Browser tools

SRT to VTT converter

Convert SRT subtitles to WebVTT for web players, or VTT back to SRT for editors and upload forms.

Subtitle time shifter

Move SRT or VTT captions earlier or later to fix sync, for the whole file or after a chosen point.

SRT to text

Strip numbers, timestamps and tags from SRT or VTT to get clean, readable text.

Why browser tools

  1. Private. Files are processed on your device and are not uploaded.
  2. Free and without an account. Open a tool and use it. There is nothing to install.
  3. Made for transcription work. Each tool fixes a common problem in subtitle and transcript workflows.

Transcription tools

The browser tools solve small jobs. For the main job, turning speech into text, use a Media2Text transcription workflow:

Which subtitle format do I need?

Use SRT for video editors and most upload forms, including YouTube Studio. Use VTT for HTML5 web players. If you have the wrong one, the SRT to VTT converter switches between them without changing the timing. If the timing itself is wrong, use the time shifter.

About privacy

Everything on these tool pages happens in your browser. When you transcribe with Media2Text, supported video files are also reduced to audio in your browser before upload, so the original video stays on your device.

The Media2Text free trial includes up to 2 lifetime transcription tasks sharing 75 minutes, with no credit card.

Questions and limits

Are the tools really free?

Yes. The browser tools are free to use without an account or trial allowance.

Are my files uploaded?

No. These tools run in JavaScript in your browser. Media2Text transcription itself does upload prepared audio, as described in the privacy policy.

Is there a YouTube downloader?

No. Media2Text does not download videos from YouTube or other platforms. To get the words from a public video, paste its link on the YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X or Vimeo transcription pages.

Will more tools be added?

Tools are added when they solve a common transcription or subtitle problem. Suggestions are welcome through the contact details on the About page.
