Get better results from compressed audio
MP3 is convenient because it is widely supported and typically smaller than uncompressed WAV audio. Compression does discard some sound information, but a clear MP3 can still be a practical source for speech recognition. Increasing the file's bitrate after recording does not restore lost detail, so use the best original available.
For difficult recordings, reduce avoidable noise before export, avoid repeatedly recompressing the file and preserve a single consistent audio track. Always review proper nouns, dates, monetary amounts and words spoken over music or another voice.
MP3 transcription questions
Do I need to convert MP3 to WAV first?
No. Media2Text accepts MP3 directly. Converting an already compressed MP3 to WAV makes a larger file but does not recreate missing audio detail.
Can I transcribe a podcast MP3?
Yes. Podcast speech can be transcribed, searched and exported, provided you have the right to process the recording.
Can I download plain text?
Yes. Use TXT for a readable transcript, or SRT/VTT when you need timed subtitle cues.
